Our Purchasing Model

Our Purchasing Model

Did you know that farmers and ranchers receive only 17.4* cents of every food dollar that consumers spend on food at home and away from home? According to USDA, off farm costs including marketing, processing, wholesaling, distribution and retailing account for more than 80 cents of every food dollar spent in the United States. See “The Farmer’s Share” by the National Farmer’s Union.

Authentic Provisions is changing this model. Of your total invoice, 70% goes to the farmer for the food you have purchased directly, 29% to the club for operating expenses and 1% to Foodclub.org. Foodclub.org is the site the club uses to place orders.  Direct sales from the farmer to the consumer are far better for all. You will soon discover that the food we have access to is far superior in quality compared to the food that is commonly sold at grocery stores. The members of Authentic Provisions feel that fair trade, quality, and respect for the earth are of great importance. To read more, visit: You Should Pay More For Your Food.
